Windows that won't open can impede ventilation.
Step 1: Initial Diagnosis
- Attempt to Open: Try to open the window to identify where it's sticking.
- Inspect for Obstructions: Check for paint seals or debris that may be causing the window to stick.
Tools Needed:
- Utility knife
- Lubricant spray (silicone-based)
- Soft cloth
Troubleshooting Steps
1. Check for Paint Seals
- Break Paint Seals: Use a utility knife to carefully run along the edges of the window frame to break any paint seals that may be causing it to stick.
2. Remove Debris
- Clean the Area: Clear the window tracks and sills of any dirt, dust, or debris that may be obstructing the window’s movement.
3. Apply Lubricant
- Lubricate Tracks: Spray a silicone-based lubricant along the window tracks to help ease movement.
4. Gently Rock the Window
- Test Movement: Carefully lift or slide the window while gently rocking it back and forth to help it break free.
When to Stop & Seek Help
- If the window remains stuck despite your efforts.
