Move Out Timeline
Moving out of your residence is a significant step, and we're here to guide you through the process. To facilitate a seamless transition, we've outlined a comprehensive timeline detailing the steps involved in your move-out journey:
Day 1: Submit Move-Out Notice
- Action: Send us a move-out through this form
- Timeline: Notice must be provided 30 or 60 days prior to your lease end date. Please check your lease agreement to find the required notice period and your lease end date. If your lease has expired, you will only need to ensure you are provide the proper amount of notice.
- What if my lease isn’t expiring yet? Review the early termination clause in your lease agreement, which outlines the conditions and potential penalties for ending your lease before the agreed-upon term.
Day 2: Sign Notice to Vacate Form
- Action: Darwin Homes will send you a Notice to Vacate (NTV) form for you to sign.
- Timeline: Complete the form within 3 days from the date it was sent to you.
10 Days Prior to Move-Out Date: Move-Out Instructions Sent
- Action: Darwin Homes sends Move-Out Instructions to your email.
- Purpose: Provides you with essential information and guidelines for the move-out process.
5-7 Days Prior to Move-Out Date: Lockbox Installation
- Action: Darwin Homes arranges for the installation of a lockbox at the property.
- Purpose: Facilitates secure key exchange and access for move-out procedures.
- If your home has a Rently device, a lockbox is not needed and will not be provided.
- Prior to your expected move-out date, a self-service checkout button will appear in your resident portal. You can confirm you have vacated your home by clicking this button.
Move-Out Day:
- Action: Instructions on how to access the lockbox will be sent to your email.
- Action: Log into your resident portal to confirm you have vacated your home. Click the purple button at the top of your resident portal landing page, we will be automatically notified that you have completed your move.
- Purpose: Ensures coordination for move-out procedures.
Post-Move-Out:
- Action: Once Darwin Homes confirms your move-out, a move-out inspection will be scheduled to assess the property's state and condition.
